House Advances Buy-American Lumber Rule for State Projects

SB 529, which would require state-funded construction to prefer U.S.-sourced lumber, cleared committee and is advancing in the House.

A light day at the State House saw one bill advance out of committee. The House adopted an “ought to pass” motion on a domestic lumber preference bill, moving it forward for a full floor vote.

On the Move

  • SB 529: Requires state-funded building projects to give preference to American-sourced lumber — moved from in-committee to active. The bill supports domestic forestry and manufacturing but could increase construction costs on state projects.
